My cats love this food! They are maintaining healthy weights and look wonderful with soft shiny coats and clear eyes. I highly recommend this food. This food may cost more than grocery store brands but you are getting real food into your cats and you will actually feed them less and they will be healthier.. also feeding them less means less poops! Important when you have multiple indoor cats ;)

Hands Down, The BEST Cat Food... Saved my Cat's Life!, September 11, 2010

I absolutely love this food, and so does my baby, Aphrodite! I absolutely recommend this food with no equivocations!

Aphrodite is 9 years old and for the past 2 years, he's been having digestion and kidney problems that grew progressively more severe. About 6 months ago, it got so severe that I was sobbing at the vet trying to decide if we should put him to sleep. At that point, he was vomiting several times a day, had lost 5 lbs, and looked awful. Everything we had tried up to that point had failed.

The vet suggested we try one more thing - a series of injections and a bunch of pills - and a switch to high protein wet food. Of course, my baby deserved a last ditch effort and we went ahead with it. After a hefty vet bill and 2 weeks, he actually seemed to be perking up! After another 2 weeks, it seemed that he would pull through. But the prescription food was costing me almost $2 per DAY! I had to find a suitable alternative. So to the internet I went. That's where I first discovered the Wilderness Diet by Blue Buffalo! With it's high protein content and wholesome, holistic, grain free (specifically corn) ingredient list, it's actually superior to the dry version of the RX diet.

I ran to the pet store and to my surprise, they carried it. So I grabbed a small bag and headed home with fingers crossed. Aphrodite is a finicky eater, so the first test was whether he'd eat it at all. To my relief, he ran for it and LOVED it! So, I watched and waited.

6 months later, my cat is doing amazingly well! Esp. considering just months ago, he was on the verge of being put down! His coat is thick, shiny, and healthy. His eyes are clear and bright. And he rarely vomits - save for the occasional hairball! To maintain his health, I've switched to Bellyrubs Organic Bonito Flakes and Liv-a-Littles All-Natural Freeze Dried Chicken treats, as well!

And today, Aphrodite is incredibly healthy, happy, and back to his old self.

Now, if I can only do something about his wayward curiosity! =D

I bought this 15 pound bag for my single cat. It's lasted several months and has been worth the cost. I transfered it to several Ziplock freezer bags and the food's maintained its freshness quite well.

My cat transitioned to Blue Buffalo without any trouble. I mixed it with her previous food only once and she was fine.

She maintained a slimmer profile before Blue Buffalo however. I used to let her "free feed" her, but now I am considering regimented meals. I am guessing that she enjoys the food enough that she is eating more than she needs just because of the taste.

Blue is the best you can buy period.
All you have to do is go to their site & it's obvious.
All human grade ingredients.
No one else sells food of this quality.
And the person that gave the bad review, obviously never read anything.
And compares it to crud like Newmans? Hey it's cheaper, you get what you pay for.

The food is good, but I buy it because my cat really loves it. I must confess I was trying to switch her to Evo brand food, so I did the usual routine of starting to mix in the new food. We noticed that she was eating very carefully. After a few days we were up to half Natural Balance and half Evo and after she ate...very slowly...I Iooked at the bowl and realized what she was doing- she was tasting each little pellet and only eating the Natural Balance (leaving behind the little triangular Evo bits)!! We gave the rest of the bag of Evo to a friend and ordered more Natural Balance.

Outstanding Food for both healthy and sick cats, October 15, 2010

I first switched to this food for my senior cats who both had cancer (most likely from my feeding them cheap food all their lives - never again). Within days of starting my cancer-cats on this food they both perked up, gained weight, and actually maintained the last few months of their lives in an active and normal manner. Both of course finally succumbed to cancer, but even the vet was surprised at how long they lived after diagnosis, and how brief the period of their final decline was (they both sort of bottomed out within a two day period at the end).

Now, the other piece: I had purchased another Siamese upon learning of my other cats' illness, and he not only loved them, he also loved the Natural Balance food, which was all he got. I noticed that as he grew he was not anemic looking as most siamese are, but actually had good muscle tone. When I brought him for his first vet checkup the vet said, and I quote "In 20 years, this is the healthiest looking Siamese cat I have ever seen." She commented on his physique, muscle tone, activity level, coat, etc. I later adopted a Tabby the same age as the Siamese, and got the same response. Both cats just have sleek, beautiful coats, are very athletic and energetic, and love the Natural Balance food.

I firmly believe that this food (and I now also use Blue Buffalo Wilderness for some variety) has made a real and noticeable differnce in the health and quality of life of my cats, and I highly recommend it to anyone. I will say my cats don't care for the wet Matural Balance foods, so I supplement their diet with an occasional Fancy Feast flavor that is free of glutens and fillers (you can google for the list.) Highly recommended.

Chances are if you are looking at Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance, you are looking into finding a quality cat food for you animals. I'm a firm believer in buying the best quality foods for my animals in order to ensure their optimum good health, especially since the 2007 pet food recalls from melamine adulterated food. Initially, when I purchased this food that didn't factor into my decision.

I had a long-haired cat who gifted me with hairballs on a frequent basis. A friend told me about this food and swore by it, claiming her rugs and furniture no longer suffered from constant scrubbing. I decided to give Natural Balance a try and was amazed at the results. I no longer have that cat, but did inherit another long-haired cutie pie who LOVES this food. I changed her food to this one a month ago, gradually mixing it with her previous food, and it somehow helps her body minimize the hairball activity. I want her to be healthy and happy and find the expense to be well worth it. This is brief blurb from their website, information that can be found on the bag as well:

Of course everyone has their own opinion and will look at several factors when purchasing for their animals. You and only you know your needs, but I find that this food satisfies not only mine (I don't have to invest in so many paper towels), but obviously that of my cat. I was using a perfectly acceptable organic food, but when I mixed this with it ... well, lets just say she likes Natural better than organic. I'm happy if she's happy and I'm not constantly cleaning up after her these days!

Saved my cat!, December 9, 2010

My cat had been vomiting every morning for years and we blamed it on separation anxiety. We called an animal behaviorist and our vet recommended that we put her on kitty zoloft. We tried this cat food instead and immediately the vomiting stopped, she stopped coughing up hairballs, and she finally started having regular bowel movements. Her hair is shiny and she has put on a healthy amount of weight. She is no longer anxious and seems so much happier! We are so grateful!

When we adopted our cat, she had spent 9 months in a cage at the humane society. She was scrawny, cranky, and not happy. We went to an all natural pet store, and the woman suggested this type of food. At that store, we paid nearly $30 for a small bag that lasted maybe a month or two.

But, this food was like a miricle! Our cat perked up, started playing, was curious and happy. Her coat was shining. She was like a new cat.

Something else awesome? Her poop doesn't smell nearly as bad as it did with regular, crap-filled food.

This stuff is amazing. Why only 4 stars, then? The price. This is one of the best prices I've found for this type of cat food, but the brand itself is very expensive. But, our cat is part of our family, it's worth it.

I switched to this food about 2 months ago because of the quality ingredients, but my cats have benifitted by by their new and healthy bodies! My fat cat has almost completely lost his giggly belly and my scrawny little boy has bulked up! I'm pretty sure it's the food, unless maybe they've started working out while I'm at work.
