Privacy Policy

This policy explains what DryCatFood.org collects when you visit. It also covers why we collect it, who else receives it, and what you can ask us to do about it.

It’s written in plain language rather than legal filler. If something here is unclear, write to contact@drycatfood.org and we’ll explain it.

Who we are

DryCatFood.org is operated by CHT Save Pets Program, based in Bangladesh. In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “our” mean CHT Save Pets Program.

For any question about this policy or about your data, write to contact@drycatfood.org.

The short version

You can read this site without giving us anything. There’s no account to create, nothing to register for, and we sell data to nobody.

What we collect is mostly automatic: server logs and anonymous analytics showing which pages get read. Affiliate links set cookies that belong to the retailer, not to us.

The food calculator on the site runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type into it reaches us.

The sections below cover each of those in detail.

What we collect

Information you give us

Email. If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever your message contains. We use it to reply, and for nothing else.

Newsletter. If we start a newsletter and you sign up, we’ll hold your email address so we can send it. Every issue will carry an unsubscribe link.

Comments. If comments are open on a page and you leave one, we receive the name and email address you enter, along with the comment itself. Your email address is never shown publicly.

Information collected automatically

Server logs. Like nearly every website, our server records basic details of each request. That covers your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for, the page that referred you, and the time. Logs help us keep the site running and spot abuse.

Analytics. We use analytics to see which pages get read, how readers arrive, and where they leave. Reports show patterns across all visitors, not a profile of any one person.

Cookies. Small files your browser stores. They’re covered in their own section below.

The food calculator. The calculator works out portions inside your browser. The weight and calorie figures you enter are never sent to us and are never stored.

What we don’t collect

No payment details, because nothing is sold on this site.

We don’t ask for your name, your address, or your phone number. We don’t ask about your cat’s health, weight, or medical history, and we don’t want it. If you include that kind of detail in an email, we use it only to answer you.

We build no advertising profiles, and we sell or rent data to nobody.

Cookies

Cookies on this site fall into three groups.

Necessary cookies keep the site working. Examples include remembering that you dismissed a notice, or keeping the site secure. They hold no personal details.

Analytics cookies show us which guides get read and which ones lose people halfway down. That tells us what to fix and what to write next.

Affiliate cookies are set when you click a product link. They record that the visit came from this site, so the retailer can credit a referral if you buy. These cookies belong to the retailer, and their privacy policy governs them.

We use no advertising cookies to follow you around other websites.

Turning cookies off

Your browser lets you block or delete cookies, and the help menu in any major browser explains how.

Blocking necessary cookies may break small parts of the site. Blocking analytics or affiliate cookies changes nothing about what you can read.

Third parties that receive data

We share data only with the services that keep the site running.

WhoWhat they receiveWhy
Web hostServer logs, including IP addressesRunning the site
Analytics providerAnonymized usage dataSeeing which pages get read
AmazonA cookie recording your click from this siteCrediting a referral when you buy
Email providerYour email address and your messageHandling mail you send us
Google FontsYour IP address when a font file loadsServing the heading typeface

Each of these handles data under its own privacy policy. If we add a provider, this table gets updated.

We disclose information to authorities only when the law requires it.

How long we keep things

Server logs: 90 days, then deleted.

Analytics: 26 months, so this year’s reading patterns can be compared with last year’s.

Emails: As long as it takes to deal with your message, then deleted within 24 months.

Comments: For as long as the comment stays published. Ask us and we’ll remove yours.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • Tell you what data we hold about you
  • Send you a copy of it
  • Correct anything that’s wrong
  • Delete it
  • Stop using it for analytics

To make a request, write to contact@drycatfood.org with “Privacy request” in the subject line. We’ll answer within 30 days.

We may ask you to confirm you control the email address involved. That stops someone else from requesting your data. We won’t charge for any of this.

If you are in the EEA or UK

We rely on two legal bases. Legitimate interest covers server logs and analytics, because we need them to run and improve the site. Consent covers non-essential cookies, where the law requires it.

You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. We’d appreciate the chance to sort it out first.

Some of the services we use store data outside your country. Where that happens, they rely on recognized transfer safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses.

If you are in California

We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

You have the right to know what we collect, to have it deleted, to correct it, and not to be treated differently for using those rights. Use the same email address to make a request.

Children

This site is written for adults. It isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them.

Plenty of kids help feed the family cat, and they’re welcome to read the guides. A young reader should still have a parent or guardian involved before writing to us.

If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information, write to us and we’ll delete it.

Guides here link to veterinary schools, the FDA, AAFCO, manufacturer pages, and retailers. Once you leave this site, this policy no longer applies. The other site’s policy does.

Security

The site runs on HTTPS, so data moving between your browser and our server is encrypted. Access to our systems is limited and password protected.

No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t promise that. We can promise to tell affected readers promptly if something goes wrong.

Do Not Track

No common standard exists for responding to Do Not Track signals, so the site doesn’t act on them. Blocking cookies in your browser gives you more control than the signal does.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. For a significant change, a notice goes on the site.

Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
